Hays under fire for rental house repairs

Hays CISD officials say they’re trying to determine if the district acted improperly in making about $2,700 in repairs to the home they are leasing to trustee Joe Muñoz.

Interstate motorist hits fire truck, patrol car

Hays County emergency workers were wrapping up the scene of a minor interstate accident early Sunday morning when a speeding motorist careened through the orange safety cones, struck a sheriff’s cruiser and smashed into a fire truck, officials say.

Foreclosures in Hays County up 80 percent

Hays County recorded 146 foreclosure listings for the upcoming October auction, an 80 percent increase from the 81 listings last October. It’s also the second-highest number since the Free Press started maintaining foreclosure records seven years ago.
