A new business is coming to Uhland. K and J Woodworks are moving to Uhland from Kyle. An access road will be constructed along IH35 where they are currently located. The cabinet manufacturing company will be located on Old Spanish Trail and will be neighbors to Five Star Concrete, Inc., Bon Ton Meat Market and Thompson Supply (a printing supply distributor). Those that belong to the Maxwell Social Club and other friends will miss Tommy Bodine, who passed away last week. Funeral service was held in the Maxwell Ebenezer Lutheran Church on Monday, Jan. 4. The Bodines have lived in Seguin since their home in Martindale burned a year ago. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Bodine and family.
The best news this week is that our sick are all ok. Hulda Wisian is able to drive her car and all were glad to see her in church after recovering from surgery to remove a kidney. Jean Collier said nothing tasted better than the Christmas turkey and dressing that did not come through a tube. We are so thankful that both these ladies are doing so well. All the other “not so well’ are all doing ok. Thank you!

Some late Christmas news: Dorothy Schneider entertained family on Christmas Eve with a dinner and of course opening of gifts. Family enjoying the evening was son, Bruce and wife Natasha, son Michael and stepdaughter Yana, nephew Gary Schneider and niece Janet Sassman and husband Gordon. The group enjoyed the meal, eggnog, gifts and visiting. Dorothy spent Christmas Day with the Bruce Schneider family.
Bruce and Natasha planned a patio party for New Year’s Eve but the Blue Texas Northern changed their plans to a party in the garage. The group of friends enjoyed the party.

The New Year’s Eve dance at Club 21 was well attended, according to a report of where patrons had to park their cars. As long as I can remember, there was never a small crowd on New Year’s Eve at Club 21!
