It is cookie time again for the Girl Scouts. The girls will be out in full force at various business locations on Sat., Jan. 23 with their annual cookie sale. A box is still priced at $3.50. Buy some, they are always good and the profit goes to a good cause.

As of the last day of 2009, Lee Verver joined the ranks of “retired,” having spent 18 years with the City of Austin.  Now wife Angie, also retired, can keep him busy with her honey-do list. When that list runs low, brother Alex, who retired from the City of Austin a few years ago, can help him stay busy with outdoor chores.
For some people, they will say that they don’t know how they found time to work since they stay so busy in the their retirement years.

Anniversary wishes go out to Mary Lou and Jim Kelley on Jan. 15.

Birthday wishes go out to Myrtle Johnson who will be 90 years old on Sunday, Jan. 17. More birthday wishes go out to Monta Foster and  Janet Holt on Jan. 19; Kay McCrea on Jan. 20.

Remember Monday, Jan. 18 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and a holiday for city, county and many businesses as well as the Hays School District and the local libraries.
