A giant fundraiser garage sale will be held Sat., Jan. 30, starting at 7 a.m., at Great Locations Realty, at the corner of RM 967 and FM 1626. This is a benefit for 15-year-old Larisa Segouin, who has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment since May 2009, when she was diagnosed with leukemia. Not only will you find great treasures for sale but also there will be homemade food and drinks for sale, along with games.

Larisa’s mom, LaDonna Brazell, worked for several years in Manchaca with Realtor Margaret Givens. On New Year’s Day, Larisa’s dad had a heart attack and underwent quadruple bypass surgery. He is in construction and cannot work at this time.
Anyone wanting to contribute to this fundraiser can contact Givens at 512-444-4454 or email Margaret@mygreatlocations.com.

Brothers Grant and Garison Grizzle celebrated their fourth birthday last Saturday with a party for all their little friends. The theme of the birthday party was “dinosaurs.” Again this year, rather than the invited guest bringing gifts for them, they were asked to bring DVD’s to be donated to patients at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. Grant and Garison are patients at the hospital, which is operated solely on donations.

Ground Hog Day is next Tues., Feb. 2, but do we Texans really care whether or not he sees his shadow? Will he or will he not? Either way, we are blessed with such very mild winters that we kind of have spring every few days.
