This is something that we do not see much of, a freeze on tuition. Santa Cruz Catholic School is doing just that for the school year 2010-2011. As the only Catholic school in Hays County, Santa Cruz is currently accepting applications for the next school year so interested families should act quickly to reserve that spot.

Buda Elementary PTA is also trying to help our community by offering an opportunity to boost the local economy, earn money for the Buda School and save everyone some coins. The Bulldog Savings Card is a collection of saving offers from 21 local and area merchants, including restaurants, shops, auto care and entertainment. Each offer can be redeemed as often as you wish until Nov. of this year. Purchase a Bulldog card for only $10 from the Buda Elementary School office during school hours. The card will also be on sale at a special price during WinterFest, which will be held at the school on Sat., Feb. 27 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

A Fountain of Life Church, which meets at Tom Green Elementary School, 1301 Old Goforth Road, will have Geary Jones speaking Thurs., Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. Jones, from Houston, was at one time one of the largest drug smugglers in the world. He was convicted of drug trafficking in 1983 and sent to prison. While in prison, he accepted the Lord and with almost no hope of parole was miraculously released. He attended and graduated from RHEMA Bible College in 1996. He has since been ordained and has held ministry positions as associate pastor and pastor.
