The Buda Bees quilting group recently presented handmade pillowcases to U. S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Stanley Tolbert, Master Sgt. Shonda Griffin, Sgt. 1st Class Alex Smith and Sgt. Major Terry Smith all in the 111th Corps, G4 (Logistics) stationed at Fort Hood. Sgt. 1st Class Smith and Master Sgt. Griffin left on Valentine’s Day for Iraq and Tolbert and Sgt. Major Smith will follow in late April for 12 months.

The pillowcases will be distributed to members of their unit on the western side of Bagdad at the International Airport. The Buda Bees are hoping that the pillowcases placed on their single bed in a trailer in far away Iraq will make them feel that the folks in Buda are thinking about them and wishing them a safe journey back home.
Sgt. Major Smith is the son-in-law of Buda residents, Jacinto and Julia Castro. Smith is married to Castro’s daughter Kelly.
