The “Empty Bowls Project” in Buda last weekend raised $1,900 for the Hays County Food Bank, with about 100 local residents turning out to the event.

Casa Alde was completely packed with food bank supporters enjoying eight different homemade soups, along with freshly baked rolls and cornbread. As part of the $15 donation, participants had the option of taking home the soup bowl.

Local elected officials including Hays County District Attorney Sherri Tibbe, Justice of the Peace Beth Smith, State Representative Patrick Rose, Kyle Mayor Lucy Johnson, Buda Councilmember Sandra Tenorio and former Kyle City Council member and Pct. 2 Commissioner candidate Ray Bryant served the soup to guests along with other volunteers.
