STAFF REPORTS
Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) will host its first annual Baby Fest on Sunday, from 1-4 p.m. The event will include more than 30 businesses providing information and services for baby, mom and family, along with door prizes, activities for children, an appetizer buffet, mini-tours of the new Childbirth Center and ‘Health Talks’ throughout the day.
“Within Hays County we have so many great resources for mom, baby and family,” said Lana Cameron, CTMC’s Director of Patient Care. “Moms and moms-to-be are already incredibly busy so it is important that we bring all of these resources and organizations together for a one-stop-shop.”
In late 2009, CTMC completed a $35 million expansion and renovation on a 64,000-square-foot Women’s Center that includes all private rooms, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a new cardiac inpatient nursing unit with all private rooms. It also includes an on-site, high-risk delivery suite and a customized cesarean section suite. The event will include tours of this new facility by Childbirth Center Associates.
The Baby Fest booths will include vendors such as baby boutiques, eco-friendly products, vaccinations for the family, baby safety and nutrition, physician offices, car seat fittings, pregnancy massage and exercise and healthcare services.
Health Talks presented by area physicians and clinical professionals will be held throughout the afternoon, including “Baby’s Development Milestones,”“Baby Nutrition Options,” and “Health & Fitness for Mom.”
