UPDATED 1:45 p.m. FRIDAY, SEPT. 3: New Braunfels police say that a patrol officer stopped a white Ford pickup around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 4800 block of IH-35 heading southbound.
Once stopped, the officer discovered a body in the open bed of the truck, which was “wrapped up in some kind of plastic,” New Braunfels Police Lt. Mike Penshorn said Friday.
Hays County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the case and two male suspects remain under their custody. Sheriff’s office spokesperson Deputy Mike Thielen said that he was not aware if the two suspects have been arrested and would not release the name of the victim or any other details.
“They’re still working it, trying to piece everything together,” Thielen said Friday.
EARLIER: Two male suspects have been detained in a murder believed to have occurred in Hays County, authorities say.
The suspects were discovered by New Braunfels Police Department during a traffic stop. Upon questioning they were found to have information relating to an ongoing investigation in Hays County, authorities say.
Police discovered a body in the vehicle the suspects were driving. Hays County Sheriff’s Office detectives along with other agency officers were called out to the location. The suspects who were placed into custody were transferred to Hays County authorities, who are actively investigating the case.
The multi-agency investigation is ongoing and the victim has yet to be identified, authorities say.
