David Lynn Akard finally won his ten-year battle with cancer at his home in Buda on Feb. 12.
David graduated from the University of Texas with a master’s degree in social work in 1988. During his career in education, he worked as a special education counselor serving students with exceptional needs. He was most recently employed with Hays CISD for 15 years prior to his retirement last year.
A memorial service for David is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at Ruby Ranch in Buda. (www.rubyranchcelebrations.com). Everyone is invited to attend and refreshments will be served following the memorial. David’s family would like to express sincere gratitude to all of David’s dear colleagues and friends who supported him throughout his illness. Their kind and generous deeds are too numerous to mention but they will never be forgotten.
