Hays CISD administrators have named two additional elementary school principals for the 2011-2012 school year, pending board of trustee approval next month at their regular meeting.
Ann Conlee will be principal at Kyle Elementary where she has been assistant principal for six years. Charla Salmeron will be principal at Buda Elementary, where she has been assistant principal for five years.
Conlee started her career as a coach and physical education teacher in 1973 in Jefferson County, Colo. She has taught elementary school students in New Mexico and George West, between San Antonio and Corpus Christi. She has worked at Hays CISD since 2000.
Conley has a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Denver and a master’s degree in education with a reading specialty from New Mexico Highlands University. She received her principal certification from Texas State University.
Conlee replaces Elaine Meyers, who worked at Kyle Elementary for most of her 34 years in education.
Salmeron started her career in 1996 as a first-grade teacher in Dallas. She taught elementary and middle school in the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and started at Hays CISD in 2005.
Salmeron has a bachelor’s degree in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Salmeron replaces Patricia Tyler.
Meanwhile, Cyndi Davis, who had been named principal at Elm Grove Elementary, has decided instead to take a job at Judson Independent School District near San Antonio.
Superintendent Jeremy Lyon will fill the vacancy before school begins next month through a process that will include input from a committee of parents and faculty.
The district previously announced two other new elementary school principals: Jason Certain at Carpenter Hill and Irma Flores-Brothers at Blanco Vista.
