Hays High had three players named All-District and Lehman had one on the All-27-4A team.
The Lady Rebels, who defeated Boerne Champion to snap a playoff winless streak that dated back to 2008, were led by first team outside hitters, senior Kaylea Beck and sophomore Sydney Paradeaux. Hays finished 27-20 this season before losing to Cedar Park in the area round.
“There’s no question Kaylea and Sydney were two of the big reasons we were successful this season,” Hays head coach Erica Walther said. “Kaylea had a great career here, and we’re definitely glad to be getting Sydney back for two more seasons.”
Also named to the second team for Hays was setter Hannah Ramsey.
“Ramsey did a great job controlling our offense,” Walther said. “She’s a great athlete and competitor who hates to lose. Those are the kind of players you always want on the floor for you.”
Lehman had four district wins under first-year head coach Megan Griffin after having no district wins the previous year.
Lady Lobo senior libero Alex Smith was named to the second team.
“You always want to see your players who are working hard to be recognized,” Griffin said. “Alex definitely deserved that honor.”
Alex Smith said it was a great year for Lehman volleyball.
“To go from losing every game in an easy district in past years to winning games in a tough district was a great experience,” she said. “I am proud of the way everyone played this season and am truly honored to be a part of the program.”
In addition, senior setter Vikki Smith and junior middle blocker Ariana Gallegos were named honorable mention for the Lady Lobos.
“There was only one way to go for Lehman volleyball and I’m so glad we’re heading in a positive direction,” Griffin said. “Our girls have the faith we can do well now against both district opponents and some pretty good teams outside of district.”
Hays’ honorable mention selections were senior middle blocker Emily Clark and senior outside hitter Kelsea Sadler.
“Emily and Kelsea both gave a lot to our program,” Walther said. “I’m very happy to see them get recognized.”
