STAFF REPORT

With a Catholic welcome, a Lutheran message and a Methodist benediction, members of six local churches came together last Wednesday for a communitywide Thanksgiving service in Buda.

The service was held at Santa Cruz Catholic Church and was sponsored by the Buda Ministerial Alliance. The Rev. Jim Sweet, alliance chairman, said the service was an opportunity for the community to celebrate its denominational commonalities.

In addition to Santa Cruz, Antioch Community Church, First Baptist Church of Buda, Living Word Lutheran Church, St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church and Buda United Methodist Church participated in the service.

Twelve pastors representing seven denominations are active in the alliance. Formed a year and a half ago, the alliance aims to provide spiritual guidance in the event of community emergencies and disasters.
