The 32nd annual Budafest has been postponed thanks to a rainy Friday and a forecast that calls for a 30 percent chance of rain Saturday and 70 percent chance of rain Sunday.
Instead, the downtown arts, crafts, parade and carnival will be held Dec. 10-11.
“We’re just going to have to move it to next weekend,” said event organizer Eileen Conley. “We have no choice. The ground is so wet here that there’s no way. Vendors would be standing in water. I’m out here at the gazebo, and it’s not good.”
Conley said it will be the same festival, only a week later.
“The carnival’s just going to sit there till next week,” she said. “The parade people are all being notified, vendors are all being notified, the city’s in on it, we’re changing our signage.”
Hopefully the weather will be nicer next weekend, she said.
At least one event will go on as planned: The Friends of the Buda Library will still hold their communitywide book sale 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Sunday at the library, 303 Main St.
