Brew-B-Que looking to leave Buda

The promoter of the popular Brew-B-Que Festival says his annual event has outgrown its location in Buda.

According to an article in a Conroe newspaper, promoter Jeb Hurt says he wants to move the three-year-old festival to Conroe north of Houston. He told the Conroe City Council this week that Conroe was a “great area to come into,” The Courier of Montgomery County reports.

“We have to make it work,” he told the council.

Hurt requested $30,000 from the Greater Conroe Convention and Visitors Bureau’s reserve fund, the newspaper reported. Festival organizers were said to be putting up $70,000 of their own funds to offset expenses.

Combing beers and barbecue, Brew-B-Que drew an estimated 2,400 people to Buda’s City Park over the 2011 Labor Day weekend.

wow not sure how its outgrown…as a vendor we sold less than the vendor fee to get in and the number of attendees was pretty poor compared to many events we set up at that have no entrance fee for patrons and a much lesser entry fee for vendors.  Maybe they think Houston folks will spend a hefty price to get in?  I admit the bands were awesome, but if it cost less to get in or free the attendance would be huge and everyone would win
