A woman claims that her boyfriend slammed her face against the floor as her two children watched on New Year’s Eve at a Wimberley area home, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Andrew Hodge, 31, of Kyle, was arrested Jan. 3 on multiple charges for the assault that occurred at the home of the victim’s friend on Happy Hollow Lane, just north of Wimberley.

The alleged victim, Ashley Perez, told police that Hodge came into the bedroom, where she and her 4-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son were all sleeping together on a bed, an arrest affidavit says.

Perez says that Hodge yelled at her as he tried to physically remove her from the bed. The victim’s friend then entered the room and attempted to get Hodge off the victim. Hodge turned his attention toward the friend and shoved her to the ground, the report says.

In the melee, Perez got out of the bed to help her friend when Hodge grabbed Perez, forced her to the ground and pounded her face into the wooden floor. Her friend later told police that the victim’s daughter could be heard screaming, “get off my mommy!” the report says.

When deputies arrived, Perez had a large laceration, about the size of a dime, which cut all the way through her upper lip, according to the affidavit, written by Deputy Lisa McNiel.

Hodge is charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony; endangerment of a child, a state jail felony; and assault with bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor. He has since bailed out of jail on bonds worth $25,000, jail records show.
