The rains just keep coming, so wonderful. Love seeing all the green in the middle of winter. Of course, with the rain, many outdoor events have to be cancelled. The carriage rides for “First Thursday” last week would not have been very comfortable in the rain so they were cancelled and not many folks ventured out for the Thursday event.

On Monday night, Jan. 30, Dorothy White passed away. She would have celebrated her 104th birthday on Feb. 7. Our Onion Creek Senior Citizen members will remember Dorothy as the lady who made the kitchen towels and gave them each year for our Budafest booth. Although Dorothy’s vision was very poor, she managed to continue doing many tasks. She lived a long happy life and had seen so many changes in her world. We are all better people for having Dorothy in our life.

Our community lost one of their hometown boys with the death of Jack Dahlstrom last week. He grew up in Buda, graduated from “old” Buda High School in 1946 and married his sweetheart, Gay Ruby. It was a great day for our area when the Dahlstrom family returned years ago to their hometown. Dahlstrom was a very beloved man of Buda, as well as the entire United States. He had friends far and wide and will be missed by all. With a smile and a friendly “hello” from Jack, it was always a joy to talk with him.
