A Buda native who left Hays County to become a board-certified orthopedic surgeon has returned to open a new medical practice in Kyle – and her first patients already include some old Buda classmates.
Dr. Christina M. Sheely also is the new chief of surgery at Seton Medical Center Hays. She is doing joint reconstruction, arthritis treatment, sports medicine and trauma care with Seton Orthopedic & Sports Medicine.
A 1988 graduate of Hays High School, Sheely previously attended Buda Elementary and Hays CISD middle schools. She also attended Austin Community College before earning her bachelor’s degree at North Texas State in Denton and her medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth.
Sheely completed her internship and a residency in orthopedic surgery at St. Joseph’s Health Center in Warren, Ohio. She previously served as Chief of Orthopedics at the Community Health Center of Branch County in Coldwater, Mich.
In addition to being actively involved in organizations such as Girls on the Run, Sheely has authored and delivered many presentations to the medical community on up-and-coming topics in the field of orthopedics.
She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association and the Texas Orthopedic Association.
