Family Fun Ride & Bicycle Rodeo Show
Join us on Saturday, April 14 as we host our 5th annual Family Fun Ride at Gregg-Clarke Park. The bicycle rodeo begins at 9 a.m. and includes games, events and prizes for the children, a presentation on bicycle and helmet safety, a helmet give-away and a bike give-away. On-site registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Around 10:30 a.m., when the bike rodeo is complete, we will take off on a four mile ride through downtown Kyle. Helmets will be required.
Registration is $10. A t-shirt is included with registration. The Family Fun Ride is a wonderful opportunity for avid cycling families and recreational cycling families to get out and ride through town in a community atmosphere and a great opportunity for the kids to tune their skills before summer starts!
Kyle Earth Day
Your Kyle Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting an Earth Day event at Lake Kyle Park and Preserve on April 21 from 9 a.m. until noon. This year’s Earth Day event will be a landscaping bonanza to help beautify the newest park in Kyle. We are currently accepting tree donations as well as monetary donations to help buy trees, bushes, plants and flowers as well as other landscaping necessities. Here is a list of preferred trees, bushes and shrubs: Oak (Burr, Chinquapin, Lacey, Southern Live or Escarpment Live, Monterey, Shumard, Texas Red), Texas Ash, Mexican Sycamore and Mexican Buckeye, Crape Myrtle, Desert Willow, Kidneywood, Texas Mountain Laurel and Texas Redbud.
We would also like to invite the community to come out and help. We always need volunteers and would love to see you all come out and help. With recent rains and flooding, we have also accumulated a bit of trash and debris in and around Lake Kyle. We will be using this Earth Day event to do a bit of cleaning as well.
So come out on April 21 and join us while we decrease our carbon footprint.
