Jose Andres Gutierrez Jr. (Andy) born on December 12, 1951 in Houston, lived a full and happy life. He graduated from Edinburg High School and attended Pan Am American College. Afterwards, Andy joined the Air Force from April 19, 1971 to June 17, 1975, his rate of rank E-4 Sergeant. During his military service he was then diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease, a form of cancer. He survived this battle against cancer to be able to support his family. He loved his game of golf and worked as a mail processor at the U.S. Post Office. After retiring from the post office he then enjoyed being able to spend time with his wife, son and grandchildren. He was also able to travel and see the many places he wanted to visit. Andy served his country and his family as an honorable, loving, respectful, giving, strong and independent man. After surviving courageously various illnesses he then passed away on July 4, 2012 at the age of 60 years old.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Elena Gutierrez, his son Jose Andres Gutierrez III, his grandchildren: Alonzo, Joseph, Des’ree, Sh’Derrica and Sky, his brother Joel Gutierrez and his sister Juanita Bernal.
The Rosary was recited Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle. The Mass was celebrated Monday, July 9 at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda with Father Charlie Garza as the celebrant. The interment with military honors will be at a later date in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio
