Five buglers played and stepped to the rhythm last Friday at Wallace Middle School. The group is part of Jersey Surf, a traveling competitive drum and bugle corps – a combination of musical entertainment, physical activity and competition – hailing from Berlin, New Jersey. They were in town rehearsing for the Drum Corps International Southwestern Championship, held Sunday at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Jersey Surf was founded in the winter of 1990 by a group of band instructors who wanted to provide a year-round activity for band members who wanted to do more after the traditional season ended.
