Fuentes Elementary School 3rd-Grader Samantha Jadein Hamill is the Kyle in-store winner in the 2012 Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program, an honor her older brother, Simon Middle School student Joshua Waylon Hamill, won in 2011. Samantha and Joshua founded “The Jacob Project,” which accepts donations of toys and gifts for children admitted to Seton Medical Center-Hays. With the help of Kyle Mayor Lucy Johnson, the Hays County Sheriff’s Department, and the Brown Santa Program, over 300 gift items have been donated to date. At her last birthday, Samantha requested her gifts be donations to the Jacob Project, which is in remembrance of her brother Jacob, who was lost at birth. Samantha does additional volunteer projects on her own, as well as with Girl Scout Troop 1158.
