With the 2012 Summer Olympics underway in London, Steeplechase resident Anne Griffith had an idea to host a neighborhood mini Olympics. She posted the event on Facebook; to her great pleasure and surprise, about 40 children ranging in age from 18 months to 12 years showed up with their parents in tow to participate in the games. Each family chose a country to represent in the games; more than 20 countries were adopted. The families made the flags of their adopted country and Griffith played the national anthems of all of them. The day one games included swimming and gymnastics. On day two, they held the track and field events at Steeplechase Park. The third day was biking and more pool events. Day four was back at the park for ball and net events. The group held the closing ceremonies on Friday. (Courtesy Photo)
