Gas line nicked

Posted by on Aug 15th, 2012 and filed under For Front Page Use, Inside, Kyle.

Construction crews at the new Sonic Drive-In at FM 2770 and Rebel Road nicked a natural gas line in Tuesday, prompting a visit from the Kyle Fire Department. Firefighter Robert Ortiz, above, was one of the first people on the scene, along with Ken Briggs. The natural gas line was about 14 inches underground when a Bobcat hit it, causing the line to break. Briggs said his crew crimped the line and the danger level to the surrounding area was minimal. The Kyle Fire Department waited for Centerpoint Energy crews to arrive and repair the gas line before declaring the area secure. (Photo by Kim Hilsenbeck)
