Do you love a good mystery? Check out one of the new mystery books in the Kyle Public Library. “The Yard” by Alex Grecian brings to life mid-1800s England in descriptive detail. Walter Day, the newest member of Scotland Yard’s investigative murder unit, wonders why he was chosen to step into the shoes of the famous Detective March. What qualities did they see that would propel him from a mere constable to detective in one of the most famous crime units in history? While he is seeking answers to his own puzzling questions, Day finds himself in the middle of one of the most important cases since Jack the Ripper. After one of the detectives on the team is found stuffed in a trunk, Day must discover who murdered the detective and in the process uncovers a killer’s vendetta. Due to Day’s lack of experience, he faces some resistance by members of the Yard team, but he forges ahead to solve the crimes with the help of Dr. Kingsley, the Yard’s first forensic pathologist. Filled with suspense and excellent character development, readers are led to a surprising conclusion in the end. Read “The Yard” by Alex Grecian at the Kyle Public Library.
