The Kyle Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire Thursday afternoon in the 200 block of Melinda Lane.
According to reports, the firefighters found the home in flames upon arrival. The home is in a wooded area and flames were spreading to the grass, trees and a power pole near the home, said Deputy Fire Chief Rick Beaman.
“Fire Command had one hose team start knocking down the fire in the home and the other hose team extinguish the grass, trees and power pole fires,” Beaman said. “Sadly the home was a total loss.”
The Hays County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported and no other structures were damaged.
Firefighters were on the scene for several hours overhauling the fire to ensure it wouldn’t rekindle.
“High temperatures made this fire particularly hard on the firefighters wearing their heavy gear,” Beaman added.
