Barbara Lucille “Mama B” Adams passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, in Austin at the young age of 81. Barbara, born on January 27, 1931, was the first female American baby born in Aruba and was considered the matriarch of her family. Daughter of Warren and Mary Stiehl, sister of “Soxo“ Stiehl and wife of the late James Mehaffey Adams Jr., she is survived by her four children, Bunnie, Buddy, Margo and Bobby; grandchildren, Taylor, Jason, Stacy and Roxanna and great-grandchildren, Taytum, Evie and Jaxon.

She was an active and lively person and was considered a dear friend to many. Being raised overseas she experienced much that life has to offer, including learning the culture and languages of the places she lived; Aruba, Greece, England and Libya, as well as the many countries she visited during her lifetime. After moving stateside she spent 14 years in Houston until moving with her husband to N. Ft. Myers, Florida where she spent 17 years golfing, sewing, knitting and entertaining friends and family. She moved back to Texas last year to be close to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She touched a countless number of lives and will be greatly missed by her family.

No funeral is planned but a ‘Celebration of Life’ memorial will be held in her honor in the month of October. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice. Rest in peace Mom. We Love You!
