Design of the Jackson Tyler Norris Memorial Skate Park is well underway. Our goal is to create a world class skate park that is unrivaled in its progressive design. The skate park addresses the needs of the community and the desires of skaters to exercise in a safe, secure environment. The benefits include strengthening community partnerships, providing positive youth development and contributing to the health and physical well being of our community in a multi-use, park like setting.

The skate park is a one of a kind venue capable of supporting skaters and bmxers spanning the needs of the novice to the most advanced user. For non-riders, the skate park will function as a space to watch the action, gather for fellowship or simply relax outdoors – not just a skate plaza, but a place for the community to gather. It is anticipated that the skate park will be completed by March/April of 2013.

As part of fundraising efforts to help support the skate park, the city of Buda in conjunction with the Norris Family has created a “Buy a Brick” program. Your brick will be located in the special garden area connecting the skate park to the main entrance. Other sponsorships are available for such things as a shade structure, restroom facility, park lighting, benches, picnic tables, etc. I have already purchased a brick with my son’s name on it with a skater emblem since he loves to skate!

Jackson Norris loved to skate as well. His legacy will be embodied in the skate park in addition to the seven lives he touched by donating his organs. Did you know that 18 people die each and every day because of the drastic organ shortage? Texans can officially register their decision to save lives at www.DonateLifeTexas.org. It only takes a couple minutes to register to be a donor.
