Last meeting: Alamo Heights 42, Lehman 6

Lehman offense: Spread

Lehman defense: 4-3

Alamo Heights offense: Multiple

Alamo Heights defense: 3-4

Players to watch:

Lehman: FS/KR Tyler Hyss, RB Paul Brown, CB Kyron Morrissette, OL Kenny Higgins, LB Ben Mitchell, LB Nick Tamez, QB Josh Guerrero, QB Paul Matthews, DT Kris Hernandez

Alamo Heights: RB Byron Proctor, QB Kalen Brockwell,
WR Robert Schuler, WR Cole Bailey, WR Christian Biedenharn, LB Blake Klumpp, LB Nick Uretsky, DB Matt Kelley, DB Blake Rosenthal

What they’re saying: “Our defense has been really good to us. They picked up the slack… We’ve got to get physical on offense and put it together all at once,” Lobo offensive lineman Kenny Higgins.

Intangibles: The Lehman defense played lights out in last week’s 16-7 loss to Boerne Champion, but the Lobos will face an even bigger test in the Mules, who had no problem handing Champion a 24-0 spanking two weeks ago. Alamo Heights hasn’t lost since the first week of the season and has put up an average of 29 points per game since then. The Lobos know they can’t keep relying on the defense alone to keep them in games. It will take another heroic running performance by Lehman’s Paul Brown and more consistent play from the quarterback position for the Lobos to have a fighting chance against a strong District 27-4A opponent.

Hays Free Press prediction: Alamo Heights 24, Lehman 7

This team will not win until the coaches start playing to the team’s strength. You have over 1300 lbs of beef on that offensive line and they continue to run and pass the ball east to west. Also H.F.P. Lobo fans are tired of Moral victories so please stop printing about them. The point is Hays hired a coach and he came in and won with a team that a legend couldn’t win with. Lehman brings in a guy replacing a guy who was outdated in his coaching style, yet left plenty of talent to win with and this team looks lost on offense. Defensively they still and always have give up way too many rushing yards and big play passing yards. The only good thing to say is they are very young and getting plenty of experience. And that wait until next year.Unfortunately some of the experience they are leaning is learning how to Lose and they been doing that every year since this school opened up. They will be real lucky to reach .500 this year.
