Dudley Daniel Gardner died October 25, 2012, at his home. He was born on February 29, 1916, to Dudley and Maude Gardner in Ashley County, Arkansas. Dad joined the Army Air Corp during World War II, serving in the Pacific theatre. He was a career military man, serving for 23 years, the majority of his tenure in the Strategic Air Command during the cold war. Although the military took us all over the world, Dad always managed to pick up an Arkansas Razorback football game. He was their biggest fan. After retiring he began his own business as a manufacturers’ representative for many boat and water ski companies. He retired and spent the next 25 years with his wife, Carlise Boykin Gardner, in Buda, minding one of Hays County’s finest vegetable gardens. Recently, he and our mother resided at the Continental Retirement Community.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, who died Aug. 24, 2012. He is survived by his daughter Gail and husband Barry McAtee, son Danny and wife Faye Gardner, son Scott Gardner and wife Pascale Vial, sister Imodene Gardner Kelly, niece Kathy Pugh both of Baton Rouge, three grandchildren, Sarah Caldwell, Jenny and husband Scott Daughtry, Jason and wife Karla Gardner, and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel in Austin with graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio. Those wishing to honor our father’s passing may make a contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project. Memorials and guestbook online at www.wcfish.com.
