First baby born in 2013 at CTMC
Megan Palomo and fiancé Jesse Rivera welcomed their first child, Janiyah Angel Rivera, into the world on Jan. 1 at 1:51 a.m. at Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) Women’s Center. The birth marked the first in Hays County for 2013. “That’s something she’ll be able to remember for the rest of her life,” Palomo said. Janiyah was born one month premature, weighing only 3 lbs., 15 oz. She is currently in the CTMC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and is scheduled go home next week. Palomo and Rivera were not expecting to ring in the new year with childbirth, but when they went for a check-up the doctor ordered a cesarean-section, which was performed by OB/GYN Jenifer Kowalik. Although the delivery didn’t go as expected, Palomo and Rivera are eager to embark on their new life together as parents.
