“GOLD, heck yes we won GOLD,” so says Coach Scott Cary. The Marbridge Longhorns are the Special Olympics, Central Texas Basketball Regional Champions, Division 4, and the highest division. According to Judge Cary, “they beat a very good Austin Parks and Rec team” for the Gold Medal in a two-day, four-game tournaments at Texas State in San Marcos.
A program on landscaping with native plants and Master Gardener presentation on using native plants will be held Sat., March 9 in the library meeting room from 2 until 3:30 p.m.
Special Teen Tech Week will start Wed., March 13 at the Buda Library at 2 p.m. with the subject “20 million hits on Google…ain’t nobody got time for that: Research made fast & easy.” Friday, March 15 from 5:30 until 6:15 p.m., the subject will be “Research made fast & easy – part 2” and from 6:30 until 7:15 p.m. “Impressing with Prezi.” The final day on Sat., March 16 from 2 until 3:30 p.m., learn the art of bookbinding. If you have 30 minutes or more to offer each week, then the CHES C.H.I.L.D. (Community Helpers Inspiring Literacy Development) Program needs you. Sign up and become a volunteer at Carpenter Hill Elementary School by contacting Patricia Hord at (512) 560-0031 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. No planning is required, the lessons will be ready for you. All you need to do is come and inspire students toward reading success. All volunteers will receive training and information about the reading process.

All city of Buda residents, be sure to head to Buda City Hall for the special election on Sat., March 9, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to election a candidate in the run-off for place 2 on the Buda City Council. Wiley Hopkins and Amy Proctor are on the ballot seeking election for the place 2 position vacated by Todd Ruge when he was elected mayor in December.
