The Lady Lobos traveled to Lockhart on Friday night, looking to maintain momentum from the 6-2 win over Giddings. However, Lockhart proved to be a strong adversary, as the Lady Lion defense stayed strong all evening. Equally strong were the Lady Lobos, whose defense met the challenge given by Lockhart. It would be sophomore Pressley Bailey that would finally break through, scoring in the latter moments of the ball game, earning a big 1-0 win for Lehman.
The shutout victory concludes district play for the Lady Lobos, who finish with an 8-2-2 district mark. While the playoffs are a near certainty, the Lobos are now waiting to find out where they will finish in 49-4A play.
The Lobos currently hold third place, right behind Hays. Lehman would need Hays to tie or lose to Giddings to surpass them for second place.
Lehman’s final game of the 2013 regular season will take place on March 19, where they take on Akins in a non-district match.
