It was 1 vs. 2 on Friday night in Bastrop, as the second place Hays Lady Rebels took on 49-4A leading Lady Bears
The Lady Rebels gave full effort, continuously fighting hard even being down a number of players. The team stepped up as a whole, battling for a full 80 minutes. Senior Goalkeeper Sarah Sellstrom had a remarkable game, staving off the Lady Bear attack all evening. Her efforts in goal helped the Rebs hold Bastrop to a 0-0 tie, ending the Lady Bears’ bid for a perfect season.
With one match remaining, the Hays Lady Rebels have control over where they finish in district play. Should Hays defeat Giddings in their next match on March 19, the Lady Rebels would finish in second place in 49-4A. A tie or loss would allow Lehman to surpass them.
Hays record now stands at 7-1-3.
