San Marcos kids celebrate Read Across America Day

Posted by on Mar 8th, 2013 and filed under Schools.

Bowie Elementary in San Marcos ISD celebrated Read Across America Day on March 2 – which is also Dr. Seuss’s birthday. In honor of the beloved children’s author, many Bowie staff and students dressed as Dr. Seuss characters, and almost everyone wore handmade red and white striped hats, reminiscent of the iconic Cat in the Hat. Celebrity readers were on hand most of the day to read with Bowie students. In this photo, special guest Mayor Daniel Guerrero reads to a group of students.

“The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So we sat in the house. All that cold, cold, wet day.”

–Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat
