STAFF REPORT

Traffic on a San Marcos major thoroughfare came to a halt as police investigated a collision involving a train and pedestrian that sent an unidentified man to a hospital Tuesday afternoon.

The man was reportedly rushed to University Medical Center-Brackenridge in Austin.

The wreck happened in the 600 block of East Hopkins Street just before 2 p.m. Emergency crews lined the HEB parking lot along the train tracks that separate the grocery store and Walgreens.

The train was stopped on the tracks, keeping traffic flow from moving along Hopkins Street.

San Marcos/Hays County EMS, the San Marcos Fire Department and San Marcos Police responded to the scene and an investigation is reportedly ongoing.
