A former Texas State University student died Tuesday after being struck by a train on a track near a high traffic intersection.
Tyler Rhein Schobert, 20, was pronounced dead at University Medical Center at Brackenridge after being transported there due to the severity of his injuries, according to a city news release.
Trey Hatt, San Marcos spokesman, said Schobert is a former Texas State student and was not presently enrolled at the university.
Witnesses said Schobert stepped in front of the train around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday near the 600 block of East Hopkins Street, the release said.
The San Marcos Police Department Collision Investigation Team is investigating the incident.
Hatt said no other details are available at this time.
