María Cristina Márquez Arellano of Buda was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at the age of 93. She was born in El Paso, Texas, on July 23, 1919. María Cristina, or Tola, as her family knew her, will always be remembered for her unyielding spirit and her steadfast faith in God. Her life was filled with love of family, and her home always welcomed anyone needing a shoulder to rest upon or a helping hand. Naturally, in her younger days, she devoted a great many years to the field of nursing.
Tola is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Steve Vasquez; granddaughter, Berenice, and her husband, Dr. Jason Craig; great-grandchildren, Alex Ehlers and Michaela Craig. She is also survived by one older brother, Luís Márquez Arellano, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Nicólas Márquez Zezati and Fermina Arellano, as well as ten brothers and sisters.
The Rosary was recited at Sunday, April 14 at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle with Deacon Rey Garza reciting. A Mass was celebrated Monday, April 15 at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda with Father Charlie Garza as the celebrant.
Mom/Abuelita/Tía Tola will be greatly missed and forever loved.
