An Austin man is in Hays County custody and has been charged with felony aggravated robbery after an April 21 incident that left a woman unconscious and in critical condition.
Jaime Beltran Granados, 22, was arrested April 25 on the first-degree felony charge, punishable with five to 99 years or life in prison. Criminal investigation detectives, according to Hays County Sheriff (HCSO) Sergeant Phillip Taylor, arrested Granados at an Austin residence following an investigation by the HCSO Criminal Investigation Division.
At approximately 5:52 p.m., HCSO deputies responded to the 5300 block of Yarrington Road in Kyle for the report of an unconscious woman found lying next to a garbage dumpster.
The 34-year-old victim was taken to University Medical Center at Brackenridge where she remains in critical condition due to a head injury, Taylor said.
The investigation is still in progress and no further details have been released. Hays County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith set Granados’ bond at $150,000 and he remained in custody as of Tuesday.
Hays County Jail records show Granados has an ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) detainer, which is a notice that the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security issues to law enforcement agencies to inform them that ICE intends to assume custody of an individual in the agency’s custody.
