Dr. Will Earl Ferguson, 67, was surrounded by his family when he passed away in Albuquerque, NM on Friday, May, 3, 2013. A native of Buda, Texas, he resided in New Mexico since 1983. He is survived by his wife, Shirlene of Albuquerque; his son Dr. Jason Ferguson and wife, Yvonne of Honolulu, HI; his son David Ferguson and wife, Alina of Albuquerque; his daughter Cathy Ferguson and husband J. Harden of Albuquerque; and by his three loving grandchildren, Audrey, Chelsi and Madelyn. He is also survived by his brothers James Ferguson and wife, Peggy of Del Valle, TX; Larry Ferguson of Pleasanton, TX and Ralph Ferguson and wife Cathy of La Grange, TX.
Will graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in Chemistry and went on to earn both, a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Texas Medical Branch and an M.D. from the Universidad Autonoma de Cirdad Juarez. He specialized in Anesthesiology and Pediatrics. He worked at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM from 1983 to 1999, and then served as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of New Mexico until his retirement in 2004. Will is remembered as a consummate professional with a passion for teaching and helping those in pain.
Will had an infectious laugh and a gift for telling jokes. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending his time play golf, hunting and fishing. The scenery and wildlife of the mountains provided Will deep enjoyment. He frequently impressed upon his children an appreciation for the American Wilderness, the National Parks, American History and the pride and work of those who came before us.
