With a birthday party like Dorothy Schneider had Saturday, no one would mind becoming 80 years “young.”
This is the time of the year when a lot of things are happening, school supplies are gotten, new back packs are chosen, new school shoes (we used to call them “tennis shoes”) are gotten.
As you drive the country roads or even the highways, you will notice that the farmers have harvested most, if not all, of the maize crops and many acres of stalks have been shredded and “plowed under.”
Many households are busy canning and freezing garden produce and peaches, figs, etc.
Well, we missed the brunt of the storm. Several showers of rain are keeping the lawn mowers busy. The farmers welcomed the slow showers.
The fireworks were beautiful all around us. We stayed home to watch.
Well, another half a year is gone, and before we know it Christmas will be here.
Summer is here, according to the thermometer and wilting plants that seem to need water every day and the constant running of the air conditioner.
