After taking a few momentous steps forward the past couple of weeks, the Rebs were shoved backward Friday night at Bales Gym in a 70-50 loss against San Marcos.

Hays girls post easy win over San Marcos; set up showdown with Del Valle for district title
The Lady Rebels took total control of the game at the Snake Pit from the outset, jumping out to a 9-0 lead on two Ashley Rankine 3-pointers and another long ball from behind the arc from Chrissy Arias.
Hays was never threatened in a 57-44 win.
Hundreds mourn local soldier’s death
A solemn bell rang on top of a hill as mourners gathered inside San Marcos Baptist Academy’s theater Thursday night. After graduating almost 10 years ago, Capt. Paul Peña had returned to his alma mater — this time in a U.S. flag-draped casket.
