Cardinal Cross Country Run & Health Fair
The event is scheduled for April 13 at Santa Cruz Catholic School in Buda and will include a 1K kids’ race at 7:45 a.m. and a 5K run/walk at 8:15 a.m., which will take participants through Historic Stagecoach Park. A Health Fair is also scheduled from 8-11 a.m. that will feature community service providers as well as local vendors, a free health screening, bounce houses, face painting and entertainment. Sustainacycle, at the recently opened Sustainable Living Center, will operate a farmer’s market on the third Saturday of the month through July, then again in Sept. San Marcos’ own Heart of Texas (H.O.T.) Chorus will celebrate its 19th birthday with performances by the chorus and top-rated quartet, Sterling, an audience sing along, refreshments and a H.O.T. birthday cake. Another reason for celebration – the chorus competed against groups from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana, earning the right to advance to the Barbershop Harmony Society’s International Quartet and Chorus Contest next July in Toronto. There, they will compete with choruses from around the globe, in what has been called the World Series of barbershop harmony singing. This will be the chorus’ ninth trip to the International Contest stage. Join the party at 7 p.m. March 7 in Room 222 of the Texas State University Music Building.

The Kyle Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (KCPA3) will be sponsoring a law enforcement documentary, Heroes Behind the Badge. It showcases the lives of seven officers (four fallen, three survivors) and provides a real-life observation of law enforcement life including the decisions made daily and the impact of those decisions. Tickets are $10 pre-sale and $15 at-the-door. Fifty percent of the net proceeds will be donated to the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial in Washington, D.C.
