‘Let go of that doe!’

‘Let go of that doe!’

Maybe you thought we reached the limit of unusual wildlife sightings in Mountain City? I sure wondered, until James Polk tidbitted on Resurrection Sunday evening. “While enjoying a late Easter afternoon snack on our back porch, we were blessed by the appearance of a pair of Black-bellied Whistling Tree Ducks. First time we had ever [...]

by PAULINE TOM “Yes, this was seen in Mountain City” appears most every week in “Montage”. Walking across lawns on Hemlock last week: seven wild turkeys. The resident who reported the spectacle was not drinking Wild Turkey. See page 3C. I saw a daytime Armadillo running across Lynn Cobb’s yard, still without her baby. She [...]

Snakes are good, but beware

Time again for a “beware of venomous snakes” warning. “Wow! Look at this!,” I heard RonTom exclaim from outside the office window, as a yellow-stripe-on-top Texas Garter Snake slithered into an opening in the French drain in our planter box. The snake certainly appeared longer than the average max of 30-inches. That was on a warm day before it warmed up several weeks ago.
