In Memoriam Robert C. Barton April 5, 1930 – January 19, 2013
At the half-way mark of early voting in Hays County, it appears that area voters are going to turn out in record numbers for next Tuesday’s election that will choose officials ranging from the Presidency to Constable in the Kyle-Buda area precincts.
The presidential election season is upon us, with a flood of early voters already casting their ballots.
For almost 60 years I have been opining on political matters in Hays County. It is one of the prerogatives of being the co-publisher and it is in keeping with the tradition started by Thomas Fletcher Harwell 109 years ago when he founded this newspaper.
Hooray for Kyle’s city council and its administrative staff. They have made difficult decisions, deciding that it’s time to tighten our collective economic belt. They have put together a budget that plays catch-up with the reality of today’s world and quits dipping into the water and sewage fund to support operational habits that developed, partly out of necessity, over the last decade.
My admiration for Marilyn Beals and her stewardship of the Claiborne Kyle Log House’s operation over the past 20 years knows no bounds.
Reflecting back on the recent party primary elections, we have these observations…
