It surprised me to find a friend of mine, Phil Savoy, in the obituary column of the Hays Free Press last week. The last time we talked, I thanked him for possibly saving my life by halting me from being inactive and letting events take their course. He seemed puzzled that what he said one time had so much effect on what happened to me after college graduation.

Holy cow! I sat down and really tried to keep my mind open and unbiased so I could really give each his due. But good grief, presidential candidate Mitt Romney whupped President Barack Obama like a rented mule. In five minutes I knew Romney had it all over Obama. Romney was like a sandstorm at which Obama hunkered down, closed his eyes and waited for it to be over. He’s waiting for someone to invent a pocket teleprompter. After 30 minutes I saw that caption above Obama’s head, “Damn, I need a cigarette.”
