The North Hays Optimist Club, along with an area church and individuals, is holding a benefit for a single mom in our area in great need.

Her ex-husband is now in prison and will not provide any kind of support for many years. She is left with four children, one in elementary and three who are pre-school age. We are looking for others to join the cause.

Because of serious trauma the family has been through and some special needs among the kids, we would like for this lady to be able to stay in her home.

She currently works full-time and makes too much for most government help, but too little to make ends meet. We have explored all options.

We are holding a benefit on Saturday, May 24, 11-2 at Buda City Park. There will be a BBQ meal, live musical entertainment from local bands, activities for the kids, and an auction.

We are asking our neighbors to buy tickets, show up, bring the kids for fun activities and donate-and bid for-auction items.

We want to publicly thank all individuals and groups who rally with us to support this family in need. We will do so at the Benefit on May 24, and also in the Hays Free Press.
