No news is good news, but not when you write a column! Could talk about the weather, but that is always the same. The rain by passes our community, maybe that is just as well; we sure can do without the wind and hail. Our hearts go out to those who lost homes, cars, trees and crops. Glad there were no loss of lives. A report of one half inch of rain was received in parts of the community. We are grateful for that.
We are also grateful for Rev. Ray Bizer of New Braunfels who was guest pastor at St. John United Church Sunday morning. Emma Lou reports that Carlson and Judy Jakubik got off, despite the difficulty of Judy getting into the car. The Jakubiks took a well-earned “short” vacation.
Members of the congregation were reminded of the needs for the Bar-B-Que and Car Show to be held on June 14. Check the sign-up sheets in back of the sanctuary. Thanks to all who made a panel for the “Sunshine Susan” quilt. JoAnn Tanzer is putting it together, so it can be quilted.
Graduation time for high school, college and university students is here again. Congratulations and best wishes to all, including Kelby Schnautz, son of Douglas and Sara Schnautz, who is graduating from Lockhart High School and Brittany Shelley, daughter of Parrish and Cheryl Shelley, graduating from Hays High School.
Happy birthday to George Strait on May 11 and Dennis Heideman on May 23.
