Sterlin Clifton Moore was born on October 25, 1918 at Bexar, Arkansas, a small community south of Salem, the son of Otis and Grace Birdsong Moore. Sterlin passed away on Feb.18, 2009.
He was a long-time resident of Buda, Texas.
Sterlin married Virginia Emery on April 4, 1942, and they shared 62 years as husband and wife, lovers, companions, best friends and parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. Virginia died on May 25, 2004.
Sterlin served actively with varied assignments in the U.S. Army for 23 years. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He also had 25 years in public education as teacher and administrator. His achievements included honor societies and an academic doctorate.
He is survived by three daughters, Dianne Hart of San Antonio, Mary Windle of Village of Golf, Florida and Judy Simon of Los Angeles, Calif. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Valerie Hart of San Antonio, Bryan Hart of San Antonio, Rory Hermelee of New York, New York; Ginger Riddle of Boerne, Marie Cusick of Los Angeles, Calif.; Jill Bennett of Boerne, and seven great-grandchildren, Jack, Emery, Miles and Elizabeth Wright of San Antonio and Caleb and Jackson Riddle of Boerne and Kate Bennett of Boerne.
Sterlin was a member of First Presbyterian Church of San Marcos for many years. Services will be held with interment in San Marcos Cemetery under direction of Thomason Funeral Home at a future date.
