Odds & Ends

Happy Easter to one and all! Just remember not to eat too many sweets.
The Easter egg hunt and party held at St. John Lutheran Church was enjoyed by a group of 13 children, along with mothers and grandmothers. The highlight of the party was Fry’s Fun Farm. The children, as well as adults, enjoyed the baby goats, pigs, ducks, chickens, a goose and even a donkey. Of course the traditional egg hunt and refreshments were also enjoyed. Thanks to all who attended, helped, donated and especially the teachers, Barbara Hanna, Vicki Schawe and their helpers.

Troy, JoAnn and Gabe Tanzer are back from Florida, after spending some time with JoAnn’s mother. JoAnn is ready to direct the choir for Easter Sunday church service at 7 a.m. in the St. John Lutheran Church. A continental breakfast will follow at the Rec Center next to the church.

A correction on the Live Oak Cemetery Association Inc. meeting to be held on April 24 at the Immanuel Baptist Church. The business meeting will be held at 11 a.m., followed by a “carry-in” salad and dessert lunch. Please remind members of your family to attend. A lot of new things are and will take place with the enlarging and improving the cemetery. Gravesites are available in the “new land.” Contact Daniel Heideman at 512-398-3800 for information.

My apologies to Ron Salewsky who was the chief cook for the Men’s Fellowship in March. Kenneth Schnautz and Donald Petrosky are the chefs on April 10. My mistake (again).

Have you been to the Uhland City Hall lately? The business room and the bathrooms have taken on a new look. The trophy case has new locks and the new showcase displays memorabilia of days gone by. Livengood Feeds donated the case several years ago and Daniel Heideman recently refinished it. City Secretary Karen Gallaher is looking for artifacts used or given by the school in the days of the Uhland Kangaroos or any other organization.

Oh by the way, Raymond and Myrtle Heideman had an early Easter gathering for the family on Palm Sunday. Ray likes to stay close to home, but enjoys having the family. Not all were able to be there to enjoy lunch, the egg hunt and visiting. Coming were Adelene Wisian, Clarence Heideman and Ellie Schawe of San Marcos; Mike, Debbie, Raney and Cooper Moore and Becca Schultz of Kyle; Terry Kleen, Daniel and Sharon Heidemen, Don, Tracie and Logan Crowell and Brian Heideman of Uhland.
